A failing, leaning or bulging wall that is one heavy rain away from collapsing and taking your landscaping with it

Erosion and washouts on a slope that keep eating your yard and undermining patios, driveways and foundations

Standing water and frost pressure building behind a wall that was built with no drainage and is now pushing apart

Wasted, unusable sloped yard that could be terraced into flat, functional, beautiful space

Stone Walls FAQs

Do I need a permit for a retaining wall?

In Massachusetts, taller retaining walls (often over 4 feet) typically require a permit and engineering. We advise you on local requirements and build to code.

Why do retaining walls fail?

Almost always from missing drainage and a poor base. Water and frost build pressure behind the wall and push it out. We build with drainage stone, filter fabric and perforated pipe so that pressure is relieved.

What is the difference between a stone wall and a retaining wall?

A freestanding stone wall defines space or property lines. A retaining wall holds back soil and a grade change, so it needs footing, drainage and engineering. We build both.
